wandering around wishing i was more inspired to write poetry, i've been looking for a challenge. last summer i made a 500-line/month challenge. and i couldn't cheat. they had to be GOOD, legitimate lines. i actually wrote some decent things.
the purpose was to, in the fall, get serious about submission and more publications, so i won't be stuck teaching composition for the rest of my life.
alas, i was consumed with working 68 hours a week and pregnancy and didn't.
my challenge now was inspired by a reading by poet Tony Toast in 2006. he came to my school and he was in the process of writing 1000 sentences, and trying to make that into something meaningful.
i'm going to write 100 sentences everyday this month. i did it on the 1st and am already noticing a few patterns. i don't know how i'm going to make the excercise into something meaning full, but i imagine it will come to me during the process.
